Mara Evenstar
Mara is co-owner and co-founder of Evenstar's Chalice. As co-owner of Evenstar’s Chalice, I can usually be found roaming the shop floor connecting with those coming through the door, designing displays, helping to source our products, and participate in running the business. I am so excited to be a part of bringing this beautiful store to life in Ypsilanti! This is part of a larger vision that has been moving though me over the last ten years, a vision to help create a dynamic, supportive, learning community. One of my gifts is creating spaces in which people feel invited to explore, create, connect and grow. |
My creativity often expresses itself in creating groups and organizations in this realm. I am co-founder of Sophia Unfolds, New Myth Works, and Conscious Rites organizations. This work is supported by my ever-growing knowledge of the human condition through studies in psychology, religion and spirituality, anthropology, integral theory, and the arts, among many other domains. My practice is also grounded in professional, real-world experience with research and development in education, business, and technology. I continue to learn, practice and teach transformative arts, which I have been doing for 20+ years. My academic background is in Anthropology and Transpersonal Psychology specializing in spiritual psychology and organizational development. Beyond the development of workshops and classes, I have brought this learning into Siena Heights University and Washtenaw Community College classrooms as adjunct faculty. I am currently studying with Jean Houston, working on my Doctorate with Meridian University. The focus of my program is on organizational leadership and social transformation, where I am building and deepening my gifts as a Social Artist. In line with this, recordings of my internet talk-radio show, The Art of Transformation, can be listened to from my personal webpage. I am currently working to integrate my background as a transpersonal consultant into offerings that I can bring to Evenstar’s Chalice and help play my part in building a vibrant and flourishing community!

My roots are deep in Earth based Spirituality, honoring the Divine Feminine as we rise again to nurture, celebrate, and empower All life with Love and wisdom. I listen to, and play with the magic of the elements that are around and within us all: Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Spirit tell our stories, and connect us to the sacredness of all life. I access the energy and ‘stories’ of tarot, numerology, astrology, and the deep listening to Spirit and silence to find a path to an understanding of personal wisdom and self-empowerment. It is my ‘Heart’s desire’ to practice the Path of Love, peace and kindness, in the “Be Here Now”, to be sure to laugh as much as possible, and ‘To turn to Love no matter what’.

Russell Jones
Russ is co-owner and co-founder of Evenstar's Chalice.
I would describe myself as a philosopher, woodworker, historian, and supporter of Mara Evenstar and her endeavors.
Evenstar's Chalice is a enchanting place. My primary roles are back office and co-managing operations. Most mornings you can find me on the floor ready to be of service. I am in awe of the level of creativity I encounter every day - whether it be with our artisans, our guests, or with my partners. I have past careers in professional theater, cabinet-making, higher education, and now finance & retail. I taught U.S. and Michigan History at EMU for seventeen years to thousands of students. My academic specialty is in the History of Science, Technology, Environment, and Medicine. |

Angela Washington
Magic Maker & Creative Connector I would describe myself as an advocate of peace, love and innerstanding. I am a mother of 2 girls; a graduate of Eastern Michigan holding a degree in business management with a concentration in marketing; a doula; a childbirth educator; and a life coach. I am actively working towards becoming a holistic healer specializing in womens health and spiritual alignment by utilizing my current skill set as well as incorporating reiki healing and massage therapy. In the long run, I’ll sum up my learning pursuit with a doctoral degree in metaphysical science within the next few years. My official role here is as a Creative Connector (social media marketing) but you can find me occasionally in the shop adding my love for the Divine by providing customer service, sharing product knowledge, but mostly shopping! Magic Maker & Divine Director Is a lifelong student of the unlimited nature of our human potential. She lives wholeheartedly by the belief that what we can imagine we can create. We are all born with the tools we need to survive and thrive in this biological, physical, spiritual and intellectual universe we are born into. We all have the capabilities to access and use those tools we are born with to maintain our own well-being and growth whether that be in the service of our biological, physical, spiritual, intellectual or any other aspect of our selves. Jerri is honored to be a part of the spark of the feminine divine that is Evenstar's Chalice and the opportunity to connect with the hearts and spirits of all of those who create and re-create it minute by minute and day by day. Magic Maker Hi I’m Rheisa Barres. You may have seen my face around Evenstar’s Chalice. When my friend’s, Mara, Russ and Jeanne first talked about opening this shop, I immediately said “I want to be a part of this!” because I knew the positive intent behind making this happen. My perspective, is that everything is energy, and I love to help people find different ways to bring joy-filled vibrations into their life, through my own work as a healer or in helping out at Evenstar’s Chalice. Whether it be a beautiful statue for an altar, a unique local artisan created pendant or piece of art, a gently used object that says “take me home!”, or simply a bundle of sage to clear their space, each encounter reminds me that we are supporting our local community and our larger world by anchoring the Light of positive energy. |
Evenstar’s Chalice’s environment is also in perfect alignment with my current unique work as a Multi-Dimensional consciousness shifter, and healer. My channeled energy work identifies light stream patterns in the personal energy field of a client. This process assists in untangling stubborn blockages, increases the flow of available energy to move beyond old ingrained life patterns and activates previously, vibrationally hidden pathways of infinite opportunities.

Sandra Finkel
Magic Maker You might see Sandy Finkel behind the register at Evenstar’s Chalice, and at the full moon gatherings at the store. She has been holding space with Mara since 2012 for the creation of an emerging conscious community collective and is a steward of New Myth Works. Sandy works as a stress management consultant and coach when she isn’t adding her touch to the displays. As a longtime seeker of truth and purpose she is right at home among the inspiring offerings at Evenstar’s Chalice. Sandy is also known as a meditation teacher and a co-founder of Jewel Heart Buddhist Center. |
