It is my hope that in these conversation we can begin the process of restoring hope and an openness to scripture, to discover the wisdom and encouragement it was meant to give us, Also that we might dispel some of the teachings that have proven to be alienating, and wounding to the soul where it could have been healing and expanding to us.
Here is a little of my back story.
Like so many, when I first began my relationship with the scriptures, it was in the context of Christian community. However, it didn’t take long before I noticed a misalignment between what I was personally reading and understanding and “The Teachings” being presented.
After years trying to fit in, I continued to find myself at seeming odds with doctrine and “rules of belonging.” Yet as I continued to study the scripture, I was finding life-giving encouragement, hope and an inclusive Creator -- not the exclusive capricious deity being presented in so much of the “Christian” doctrine. I have been encouraged to share these things I have learned – knowing that many others have experienced something similar. Perhaps in distancing yourself from an institution that was not assisting your growth, you also lost a beautiful resource for love and hope. Perhaps this conversation can be the beginning of a restoration for you. Please allow me to welcome you to "Another Look At Scripture" a series of conversations to welcome ALL.
