Did you know that the evening star—the star for which Evenstar’s Chalice is named—is actually a planet?
The planet Venus is the third brightest object in the sky, after the sun and the moon. Venus is visible to people on earth—and looks like a star—because it is closer to earth than all of the other planets.
Because of Venus’ orbital path in relation to the earth, half the year Venus appears in the east, and half the year it appears in the west. When it appears in the west, as the sun is setting, it is known as the evening star. When it appears in the east, as the sun is rising, it is known as the morning star.
The Planet Venus takes her name from the Greek Goddess Venus, who ruled love and pleasure. The planetary energies expand this into Attraction, Love, Relationships, Art, Beauty, and Harmony. These are all qualities that Evenstar’s Chalice invokes and provides to those who enter her doors.
On May 13, 2020, Venus goes retrograde in Gemini. This retrograde will last for 40 days, until June 25th, 2020.

Now is a time to make intentional changes in your life in order to purify and release what no longer serves you. This is a time to reset.  Listen to your heart, ask your deeper self what serves it, and find ways to begin with fresh eyes and actions.
Since this Venus retrograde occurs in Gemini, there will be strong emphasis on the perceived dualities of feelings; this retrograde period asks you to look at those dualities and find common ground, to step back, observe with objectivity and find a way to integrate those dualities into the Wholeness of your Being.
Often retrogrades feel difficult, for example, when Mercury goes retrograde, people often experience communication problems, including their technology acting up. This Venus retrograde in Gemini can bring unfinished business back into your life, especially in the areas of love and relationships.
Think about where you may have loose ends with past lovers, old friends, or where you habitually suppress emotions. As you reflect, think about how you might resolve these things pro-actively, so that during this retrograde those things don’t pop up unexpectedly and take you by surprise.
If you choose not to address that unfinished business, it lurks in the background, and ends up consuming more energy and effort in the long run.
When you utilize the energy of the Venus Retrograde to support and assist you, this time will help you gain clarity, work through some emotions, and let go of emotional patterns that no longer serve you.
During this retrograde you have a choice: allow the energy to assist you willingly or resist change and feel the effects in ways that may feel out of control or chaotic. Ultimately, this energy is here to assist you in emerging into the best version of yourself.
